The Ontario Trillium Foundation has funded a three-year pilot project for creating a Community-Links (C-Links) Centre for Community-Based Projects and Social Mapping in City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL), Ontario.
This new Centre will be modeled after the “independent broker of CSL” model pioneered in nearby Counties by the Trent Centre for Community-Based Education (TCCBE) in Peterborough, Ontario and U-Links Centre for Community-Based Research (U-Links) in Haliburton, Ontario.
The idea for the TCCBE and U-Links was originally proposed through a community partnership with Trent University in the late 1980′s. This long-standing and fruitful relationship is recognized throughout the world as a pioneering model for community-academic work in North America.
The C-Links pilot project also aims to formally engage with other local post-secondary institutions like Fleming College by celebrating and adding value to pre-existing CSL programs in the area.
